I would like people to know that I am just a normal person who happens to be paralyzed. I have special needs which are varied and difficult to meet. I struggle financially, physically and emotionally just to get through each day. You won't see me without a smile on my face. The burden that is placed on my family makes me sad. I use public transportation during business hours to get out but since I don't own an adapted van, I cannot enjoy holiday gatherings, evenings or weekends out, or leave the city limits. If someone lifts me out of bed, I can be independent. I feel encouraged by the research that is now taking place and for the support of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.
